Small Fireplaces for Cozy Homes
If you live in a colder climate, you will want to keep your Cozy Home warm and cozy by installing some kind of fireplace, wood stove or propane stove. Many heating implements of this type may be too large for a smaller home but here are a few options for those Cozy Homes with a little less space:
For the more traditional wood-burning stove, look at the best selling Jøtul wood stove. This Norwegian-made cast iron wood stove comes in many sizes, but the smallest sizes are the Jøtul GF 200 and the Jøtul F 602. The 602 is about a foot wide and can heat up to 800 square feet.
Marine stoves are another option for smaller homes since they are made to fit onto boats. The Herring and Halibut models by Marine Stove are stoves that are about 13-20 inches wide. The Halibut is cast iron and uses wood or coal. The Herring uses biodiesel or desiel fuel and is non-electric. The surfaces of both of these stoves can be used for cooking. For an even smaller stove, check out the Tiny Tot Pet stove by Fatsco Stoves. This tiny cast iron stove is perfect for the smallest Cozy Home.
If you want something slick and modern looking, try the Danish Rais fireplace. The 20 inch wide Rais Gabo Gas fireplace runs on natural gas but can be converted to run on propane. It weighs about 300 lbs and has a wide open window to view the flames. The Gabo Gas is also available in a heat-retaining soapstone.
Outside wood burning stove is a great heating option too.
